Scott Matthew in Berlin

Scott Matthew is an Australian singer-songwriter, born in Queensland in 1976 and based in New York. His intimate alternative folk and chamber-pop songs are led by a distinctive high-register voice. He first reached a wider audience through vocal performances for Yoko Kanno’s anime soundtracks, including “Lithium Flower” and “Beauty Is Within Us” from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, before releasing solo records such as Scott Matthew, Gallantry’s Favorite Son and Unlearned. After releasing Unlearned, Scott Matthew toured its reinterpretations of songs including “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” through European clubs and theatres. He later took the collaborative album Life Is Long into joint concerts with Portuguese composer Rodrigo Leão.
