About serpentwithfeet
serpentwithfeet is the recording name of American singer, composer and performance artist Josiah Wise, a Baltimore native who works in gospel, soul, R&B and experimental pop. His releases include the EP blisters and the albums soil, DEACON and GRIP; “four ethers,” “bless ur heart” and “Fellowship” are among his best-known songs.
In 2023, serpentwithfeet presented Heart of Brick, a theatrical work built around music, dance and a love story set in a Black queer nightclub. Directed by Wu Tsang and choreographed by Raja Feather Kelly, it premiered at Kampnagel in Hamburg before receiving its US premiere at BAM in Brooklyn.
