Artist
Sessa is the recording name of Brazilian singer-songwriter and guitarist Sérgio Sayeg. A former member of the psychedelic rock group Garotas Suecas, he makes understated Portuguese-language music rooted in MPB, bossa nova and psychedelic folk. His solo albums include Grandeza and Estrela Acesa, featuring songs such as “Flor do Real” and “Gostar do Mundo.” Sessa’s NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert was filmed in São Paulo and drew material from both solo albums. Percussion, bass and layered backing vocals surrounded the nylon-string guitar and lead voice of Sessa.
