About Seu Jorge
Seu Jorge is a Brazilian singer, songwriter and actor, born in Belford Roxo in 1970, who performs samba and MPB shaped by soul and funk. His solo catalogue includes “Carolina,” “Burguesinha,” the album Cru and the Portuguese-language David Bowie adaptations collected on The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions. His film roles include Mané Galinha in City of God and Pelé dos Santos in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
In 2016, Seu Jorge launched The Life Aquatic: A Tribute to David Bowie, revisiting the Bowie songs he had performed in Wes Anderson’s film. He presented the program with acoustic guitar, dressed as Pelé dos Santos, while images from the film accompanied the music. The tribute was staged at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and later at Royal Albert Hall in London.
