About Sex Mob
Sex Mob is an American jazz quartet formed in New York in 1995 by trumpeter Steven Bernstein. The group plays experimental jazz shaped by funk and free improvisation, and is known for transforming familiar material on records such as Sex Mob Does Bond and Cinema, Circus & Spaghetti: Sex Mob Plays Fellini.
Sex Mob began through a weekly engagement at the Knitting Factory’s Tap Bar. Bernstein’s slide trumpet is joined by saxophonist Briggan Krauss, bassist Tony Scherr and drummer Kenny Wollesen; keyboardist John Medeski later joined the quartet for a 2006 performance issued as Sex Mob Meets Medeski: Live in Willisau 2006.
