Shakira in Madrid

Shakira is a Colombian singer-songwriter born in Barranquilla in 1977, known for Latin pop and pop-rock in Spanish and English. The albums Pies Descalzos and Dónde Están los Ladrones? established songs such as “Estoy Aquí” and “Ojos Así,” while Laundry Service introduced a wider English-language audience to “Whenever, Wherever.” Her other signature recordings include “Hips Don’t Lie,” “She Wolf” and the World Cup song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).” The Tour of the Mongoose took her around the world in 2002 and 2003, followed by the Oral Fixation Tour in 2006 and 2007. She returned to arenas on The Sun Comes Out World Tour and later mounted the El Dorado World Tour in 2018, performing material from across her Spanish- and English-language catalogues. Her concerts feature a touring band, choreographed dance sections and Shakira playing instruments including guitar and percussion. In 2020, she co-headlined the Super Bowl LIV halftime show in Miami with Jennifer Lopez.
