Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar in Haarlem

Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar is the live project led by German musician, DJ and producer Stefan Hantel, who performs as Shantel. The project plays electronic dance music shaped by Balkan brass, folk melodies and pop songwriting. Shantel is known for the Bucovina Club compilation series, the album Disko Partizani, and tracks including “Bucovina” and “Disko Partizani.” In 2001, Shantel started the Bucovina Club night at Schauspiel Frankfurt, where he presented DJ sets and live musicians. That club format developed into touring with Bucovina Club Orkestar, bringing the repertoire to concert halls and outdoor stages. The group has performed at Glastonbury Festival and Roskilde Festival. The concert format places Shantel on vocals and guitar at the head of a band featuring brass, percussion and a rhythm section. Stefan Hantel also uses electronic elements from his work as a DJ and producer.
