Shooting Star is an American rock band formed in Kansas City, known for melodic hard rock built around guitars, keyboards and violin. The group became the first American act signed to Virgin Records and released its self-titled debut in 1980. Its best-known songs include “Last Chance,” “Hang On for Your Life,” “Flesh and Blood” and “Hollywood.” In the early 1980s, Shooting Star opened concerts for ZZ Top, Cheap Trick and REO Speedwagon as its first albums reached rock audiences. The band also toured with Kansas and Journey, playing theatres and arenas during its busiest years on the road.
