Sigh are a Japanese avant-garde metal band formed in Tokyo in 1989. Their music is rooted in black metal but incorporates progressive structures, orchestration and keyboards. The debut album Scorn Defeat was released by Deathlike Silence Productions, while Imaginary Sonicscape, Hangman’s Hymn and Shiki marked later stages of the band’s experimental catalog. The Eastern Force of Evil: Live ’92-’96 documents Sigh’s early concert years. The band later carried its full ensemble to international events including Roadburn Festival and Maryland Deathfest. Sigh perform as a full metal band. Mirai Kawashima handles vocals and keyboards, while Dr. Mikannibal contributes vocals and saxophone.
