Lisa Simone is an American jazz and soul singer, songwriter and actress, born in Mount Vernon, New York, in 1962. The daughter of Nina Simone, she recorded interpretations of her mother’s repertoire on Simone on Simone and developed her own catalogue through albums including All Is Well and My World. Lisa Simone appeared in Rent on Broadway before moving into major touring theatre. She later played the title role in the first US national tour of Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida.
