Sixpence None the Richer is an American alternative pop-rock band formed in New Braunfels, Texas, in 1992 by singer Leigh Nash and guitarist-songwriter Matt Slocum. The band is best known for “Kiss Me” and its cover of the La’s song “There She Goes,” both associated with the self-titled album Sixpence None the Richer. Later recordings include Divine Discontent, featuring “Breathe Your Name” and a cover of “Don’t Dream It’s Over.” In 1999, Sixpence None the Richer performed on Lilith Fair during the height of “Kiss Me.” After disbanding in 2004, the group reunited in 2007 and returned to touring the following year around the Christmas album The Dawn of Grace, followed by further concerts after Lost in Transition. Sixpence None the Richer performs as a full band, centered on Leigh Nash’s lead vocal and Matt Slocum’s guitar.
Ella Hooper is an Australian rock singer-songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of Killing Heidi, the band she formed with her brother Jesse Hooper while growing up in Violet Town. Killing Heidi’s debut album, Reflector, produced the songs “Mascara” and “Weir.” Her solo work includes the albums In Tongues and Small Town Temple. In 2016, Hooper reunited with Killing Heidi for Handpicked Festival. The reunion was followed by an Australian tour in 2017 under the Killing Heidi name.
