Skipinnish are a Scottish Celtic folk-rock band formed in 1999 by accordionist Angus MacPhail and piper Andrew Stevenson. Their music draws on Highland and Gaelic traditions, and their best-known songs include “Walking on the Waves,” “The Island” and “Alive.” Skipinnish marked their 20th anniversary with a concert at Edinburgh Castle Esplanade in 2019. They headlined the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2023, then returned to the castle for their 25th-anniversary show in 2024. The group performs as a full band, combining accordion and bagpipes with fiddle, guitars, drums and vocals in English and Gaelic. They have performed at Tiree Music Festival and HebCelt in Stornoway. Their festival history also includes Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival near Inverness.
