About Só Pra Contrariar
Só Pra Contrariar is a Brazilian pagode group formed in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, in 1989. Led during its best-known period by singer Alexandre Pires, the group brought romantic songwriting into samba-rooted pagode on songs including “Depois do Prazer,” “Essa Tal Liberdade,” “Que Se Chama Amor” and “Domingo.”
In 2013, Alexandre Pires reunited with the group for the SPC 25 Anos anniversary tour, which also produced a concert recording. He returned again in 2024 for the farewell tour SPC Acústico 2: O Último Encontro, revisiting the repertoire associated with the group’s years together.
