Son Rompe Pera is a Mexican band formed in Naucalpan in 2017 by the Gama brothers, who grew up in a family of marimba players. The group plays marimba-led cumbia shaped by punk, ska and rock, a sound established on the albums “Batuco” and “Chimborazo.” In 2021, Son Rompe Pera performed a Tiny Desk (home) concert for NPR. The following year, the band recorded a KEXP session at Les Trans Musicales in Rennes, and its festival appearances have also included Glastonbury Festival and Roskilde Festival.
