Artist
Söndörgő is a Hungarian folk ensemble formed in Szentendre in 1995. The group plays South Slavic music from the Carpathian Basin, placing tambura-family string instruments at the centre of arrangements that also use winds, accordion and percussion. Its recordings include Tamburising: Lost Music of the Balkans, Tamburocket: Hungarian Fireworks and Szikra, a collaboration with Amsterdam Klezmer Band. Söndörgő has performed at Sziget Festival in Budapest and Roskilde Festival in Denmark. The same tambura-led ensemble has also appeared at WOMAD in England.
