Steel Pulse in Berkeley

Steel Pulse are a British roots-reggae band formed in 1975 in Birmingham’s Handsworth district. Led by singer and guitarist David Hinds, they became known for politically focused songs including “Ku Klux Klan” and “Your House,” and for albums such as Handsworth Revolution, True Democracy and Babylon the Bandit. Steel Pulse opened for Bob Marley and the Wailers on a European tour in 1978, bringing the group to larger international audiences early in its recording career. In 1985 they performed at Live Aid at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, and decades of touring have since taken the band through theatres, concert halls and outdoor events. Their festival history includes appearances at Glastonbury Festival, Reggae Sunsplash and Rototom Sunsplash.
