Stern-Combo Meißen is a German progressive rock band formed in East Germany in 1964. Keyboards and extended compositions shaped its symphonic sound, heard on the concept album Weißes Gold and songs including “Der Kampf um den Südpol” and “Stundenschlag.” The group played its first concert in 1964 and built its early following in the dance halls and cultural houses of the GDR. After a hiatus, Stern-Combo Meißen returned to regular concert work in 1996, playing theatres and Kulturhäuser across eastern Germany. Anniversary performances have repeatedly brought the band back to Meißen.
