Synthony is a New Zealand concert project that recasts electronic dance music for orchestra, DJs, vocalists and other live musicians. Its repertoire draws on club anthems including Darude’s “Sandstorm,” Robert Miles’s “Children” and Avicii’s “Levels.” The live series launched at Auckland Domain in 2017 and later moved into major indoor venues including Spark Arena. Its expansion to Australia brought the orchestral format to open-air stages, including Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl.
