About Tankard
Tankard are a German thrash metal band formed in Frankfurt in 1982. Their fast, riff-driven songs often treat beer and drinking with comic exaggeration, an approach heard across albums including Zombie Attack, Chemical Invasion and The Morning After. “(Empty) Tankard” and “Space Beer” are among their best-known songs.
The 1990 live album Open All Night documented Tankard performing in East Berlin. The band later played multiple editions of Wacken Open Air and brought the same full-band thrash format to Rock Hard Festival in Gelsenkirchen.
