About The 5th Dimension
The 5th Dimension are an American vocal group formed in Los Angeles in 1966, known for pop and soul arranged around five-part harmonies. The original lineup featured Marilyn McCoo, Billy Davis Jr., Florence LaRue, Lamonte McLemore and Ron Townson. Their signature recordings include “Up, Up and Away,” “Stoned Soul Picnic,” “Wedding Bell Blues” and the medley “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In.”
In 1969, the group performed at the Harlem Cultural Festival in Mount Morris Park, a set later featured in the documentary Summer of Soul. The concert album The 5th Dimension/Live!! subsequently documented the original quintet’s stage repertoire at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas.
