About The Alchemist
The Alchemist is an American hip-hop producer, DJ and rapper, born Alan Maman in 1977 and raised in Beverly Hills. After beginning as part of the Whooliganz, he built a production catalog that includes Prodigy’s “Keep It Thoro,” Jadakiss’s “We Gonna Make It” and his own “Hold You Down.” His later work includes complete collaborative albums such as Alfredo with Freddie Gibbs, Haram with Armand Hammer and The Price of Tea in China with Boldy James.
In the mid-2000s, he toured as Eminem’s DJ, performing in arenas as part of the rapper’s live show. The Voir Dire Tour in 2023 paired him with Earl Sweatshirt for dates in North America and Europe, where he DJed while Earl performed material from their joint album. In 2024, The Alchemist presented a guest-heavy set at Coachella that included appearances by Earl Sweatshirt, Action Bronson and Boldy James.
