Artists
The B-52's are an American new wave band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976. Their self-titled debut introduced “Rock Lobster” and “Planet Claire,” while the album Cosmic Thing produced “Love Shack” and “Roam.” The B-52's played their first concert at a Valentine’s Day party in Athens in 1977 and appeared at the US Festival in 1983. Their Farewell Tour reached its final date at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta in 2023, closing the band’s road-touring chapter. Later that year, they began a residency at the Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas.
Devo is an American new wave and art-rock band formed in Akron, Ohio, in 1973. Built around the concept of “de-evolution,” the group became known for its deadpan satire, coordinated costumes and angular electronic rock. Its signature recordings include “Whip It,” “Jocko Homo” and “Mongoloid,” along with the albums Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! and Freedom of Choice. Devo played New York clubs CBGB and Max’s Kansas City in the 1970s, and a 1978 appearance on Saturday Night Live put the band’s tightly choreographed, uniformed performance style on national television. After returning to regular concert work in the 1990s, the group joined the touring Lollapalooza lineup in 1996. On the 2014 Hardcore Devo tour, they performed early songs written before the debut album. Later festival appearances include a 2010 set at Coachella in Indio and a performance at Cruel World in Pasadena.
