Beach Boys in North Myrtle Beach

The Beach Boys are an American pop and rock group formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961 by brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine. Close vocal harmonies and songs about surfing, cars and teenage life shaped early hits including “Surfin’ U.S.A.” and “California Girls,” while the album Pet Sounds and the single “Good Vibrations” expanded their sound beyond surf music. The 1964 live album Beach Boys Concert drew on performances recorded at Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento in 1963 and 1964. The group’s principal songwriter and studio leader stopped touring regularly at the end of 1964. The group performed at Live Aid at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia in 1985. In 2012, the 50th Anniversary Tour reunited Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks for dates that included the Hollywood Bowl.
