Christer Sjögren in Karlstad

Christer Sjögren is a Swedish singer, born in Hagfors in 1950, whose baritone became closely associated with dansband group Vikingarna. He served as the group’s lead vocalist from 1978 to 2004 and sang recordings including “Leende guldbruna ögon” and “Till mitt eget Blue Hawaii.” His solo work covers pop, country, schlager and Christmas music, and he competed in Melodifestivalen 2008 with “I Love Europe.” Christer Sjögren toured Sweden and Norway for more than two decades as Vikingarna’s frontman, performing at the folk parks and dance venues central to the dansband circuit. The group’s 2004 farewell concert in Arvika closed that chapter, after which he returned to the road under his own name for theatre and concert-hall programs. His solo shows have drawn on his own catalogue, Christmas songs and tributes to Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
