The Box Tops in San Juan Capistrano

The Box Tops are an American rock and soul band formed in Memphis in 1967. Fronted by teenage singer Alex Chilton, they became known for “The Letter,” followed by records including “Cry Like a Baby” and “Soul Deep.” The Box Tops toured behind their late-1960s hits before the original group split in 1970. Original members reunited in 1996 and returned to concert work, remaining active onstage during the following decade. Bill Cunningham and Gary Talley led a new touring lineup after reviving the band in 2015.
