About The Cascades
The Cascades are an American pop vocal group formed in San Diego in 1960. They are best known for “Rhythm of the Rain,” written and sung by John Gummoe, and also recorded songs including “The Last Leaf” and “Shy Girl.”
The musicians first performed together while serving aboard USS Jason, then took their harmony-led pop into local clubs after leaving the Navy. Reunion performances later brought John Gummoe and The Cascades to the Philippines, where “Rhythm of the Rain” retained a lasting audience.
