The Connells in Carrboro

The Connells are an American alternative rock and jangle-pop band formed in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1984. Their best-known recordings include “’74–’75,” “Stone Cold Yesterday” and “Slackjawed,” while the albums Boylan Heights and Ring established their guitar-led sound. The Connells toured the United States through the late 1980s and 1990s behind albums including Fun & Games and One Simple Word. After “’74–’75” became a hit in Europe, the band also played European clubs and festivals. Later North Carolina concerts included Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro and the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh.
