Artist
The Dark Tenor is the classical-crossover project of German-American singer Billy Andrews, a classically trained tenor and former member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor. His recordings set rock and pop songwriting against themes associated with composers including Beethoven, Mozart and Tchaikovsky. Albums such as Symphony of Light, Nightfall Symphony and Symphony of Ghosts established that approach. The Symphony of Light tour brought his early repertoire to concert halls with a rock-band framework and classical instrumentation. He followed it with the Nightfall Symphony tour, then developed further theatre programs around Symphony of Ghosts and the anniversary production Alive.
