About The Del McCoury Band
The Del McCoury Band is an American bluegrass group led by singer and guitarist Del McCoury, whose high tenor and rhythm guitar anchor its traditional acoustic sound. The band is known for albums including The Cold Hard Facts and The Company We Keep, its recording of Richard Thompson’s “1952 Vincent Black Lightning,” and The Mountain, made with Steve Earle.
Del McCoury became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2003, and the band has made repeated appearances on its Nashville stage. In 2008 he founded DelFest in Cumberland, Maryland, where The Del McCoury Band serves as host and performs at the annual festival. After recording American Legacies, it toured in 2011 with Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
