About The Family Crest
The Family Crest is an American orchestral indie-rock band formed in San Francisco in 2009 by singer and composer Liam McCormick and drummer John Seeter. The group is known for the albums The Village, Beneath the Brine and The War: Act I, as well as songs including “Beneath the Brine” and “Howl.”
In 2014, the band performed material from Beneath the Brine for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series. The Family Crest later supported Guster on tour, bringing its large-ensemble arrangements to club and theatre stages.
The touring group performs as a seven-piece ensemble whose instrumentation includes strings, brass and woodwinds alongside a rock rhythm section. Its concert arrangements are built around the lead vocal of Liam McCormick.
