The Hot Sardines in Santa Monica

The Hot Sardines are an American jazz band formed in New York in 2007 by singer Elizabeth Bougerol and pianist Evan Palazzo. They play swing, vocal jazz and French chanson, drawing on standards such as “Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen” and “I Wanna Be Like You.” Their recordings include the albums The Hot Sardines and French Fries & Champagne, whose version of “When I Get Low, I Get High” features Alan Cumming. The group developed its act in New York clubs before the live album Welcome Home, Bon Voyage documented concerts at Joe’s Pub and Toronto’s Koerner Hall. The Hot Sardines have also brought their ensemble to the Newport Jazz Festival and the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
