About The Icicle Works
The Icicle Works are a British rock band formed in Liverpool in 1980 by singer and guitarist Ian McNabb, bassist Chris Layhe and drummer Chris Sharrock. Their post-punk and new-wave songs are marked by ringing guitars and melodic choruses; the band are best known for “Love Is a Wonderful Colour,” “Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)” and their self-titled debut album.
The Icicle Works toured Britain and North America during their original 1980s run as a three-piece. After that lineup ended in 1990, the name returned to the stage in 2006 with a new full-band lineup, followed by tours that revisited the debut album as well as songs from across the catalogue. These later concert lineups were led by Ian McNabb.
