The Ike Reilly Assassination is an American rock band from Libertyville, Illinois, led by singer-songwriter Ike Reilly. Its garage rock, punk and alt-country sound is documented on albums including Salesmen and Racists, Sparkle in the Finish and We Belong to the Staggering Evening; “Put a Little Love in It” and “Commie Drives a Nova” are among the best-known songs in the catalog. The band’s long-running Thanksgiving Eve concerts at First Avenue in Minneapolis became a recurring part of its live history. These shows featured Reilly backed by the Assassination as a full electric band, a format the group also brought to Chicago-area clubs including FitzGerald’s in Berwyn.
