The New Standards in Red Wing

The New Standards are an American jazz-pop trio formed in Minneapolis in 2005 by pianist and singer Chan Poling, bassist and singer John Munson, and vibraphonist Steve Roehm. Poling is known for The Suburbs, Munson for Semisonic and Trip Shakespeare, and Roehm for Electropolis. The trio recasts rock and pop songs for piano, bass and vibraphone; its albums include The New Standards, Rock and Roll and Sunday Morning Coming Down. The annual New Standards Holiday Show began in 2007 and became the trio’s best-known recurring concert, pairing its core performances with a changing cast of guest singers and musicians. The production later moved to a larger stage at the State Theatre.
