The Real Thing in Birmingham

The Real Thing are a British soul and disco group formed in Liverpool. They are best known for “You to Me Are Everything,” which topped the UK singles chart, as well as “Can’t Get By Without You” and the funk-driven “Can You Feel the Force?” Their album 4 from 8 also produced “Children of the Ghetto.” In the mid-1970s, The Real Thing toured Britain as the support act for David Essex before their major chart successes. In later decades, the group continued to perform its soul and disco catalogue as a full band in British theatres. Those theatre tours have been led by original vocalists Chris Amoo and Dave Smith.
