About The Romantics
The Romantics are an American rock band formed in Detroit in 1977. Their power pop and new wave catalogue includes “What I Like About You,” “Talking in Your Sleep” and “One in a Million,” while the albums The Romantics and In Heat established their best-known sound.
The band played its first concert on Valentine’s Day 1977 at Detroit’s My Fair Lady Club, opening for the New MC5. The Romantics later toured as an opening act for the Ramones and Cheap Trick, taking their concise, guitar-led songs onto club and theatre stages.
Their concerts use a full electric-band format and draw heavily on the early albums and singles. Singer and guitarist Wally Palmar fronts the touring lineup.
