About The Shins
The Shins are an American indie-rock band formed in Albuquerque in 1996 around singer and songwriter James Mercer. Their debut album, Oh, Inverted World, introduced songs including “New Slang” and “Caring Is Creepy”; “New Slang” later reached a wider audience through the film Garden State. The albums Chutes Too Narrow, Wincing the Night Away and Port of Morrow extended their catalogue of guitar pop and folk-leaning rock.
In 2012, The Shins toured behind Port of Morrow and performed at Coachella and Lollapalooza. Another concert run followed the release of Heartworms in 2017. In 2022, the band returned to its debut album, playing it in full on the Oh, Inverted World 21st Birthday Tour.
