The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain is a British ensemble formed in London in 1985 by George Hinchliffe and Kitty Lux. The group is known for recasting rock, pop, punk and film music for ukuleles and voices, including “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “Wuthering Heights” and Ennio Morricone’s theme from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The ensemble gave its first concert at the Roebuck pub in 1985. In 2009, it performed a BBC Proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall, then went on to appear at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Sydney Opera House.
