The Zolas in Vancouver

The Zolas are a Canadian indie-rock band formed in Vancouver in 2009 by singer-guitarist Zach Gray and keyboardist Tom Dobrzanski after their earlier group Lotus Child ended. Piano-led arrangements, angular guitars and pop choruses run through the albums Tic Toc Tic, Ancient Mars, Swooner and Come Back to Life; their best-known songs include “Escape Artist,” “Ancient Mars” and “Swooner.” The band toured clubs and theatres behind Ancient Mars and Swooner, and performed at Rifflandia in Victoria and South by Southwest in Austin. Later, the Come Back to Life Tour brought the fourth album into the group’s full-band set on stages across Canada.
