They Are Gutting a Body of Water is an American shoegaze and noise-rock band formed in Philadelphia in 2018 around songwriter and producer Douglas Dulgarian. The project is known for the albums Gestures Been, Destiny XL and Lucky Styles, which pair distorted guitars with fragmented melodies and electronic textures. In 2023, the band performed at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. The following year, they supported DIIV on selected North American dates of the Frog in Boiling Water tour, playing clubs and theatres as a full band.
