About Three 6 Mafia
Three 6 Mafia is an American hip-hop group formed in Memphis in 1991 by DJ Paul, Juicy J and Lord Infamous. Their dark Southern rap helped shape the Memphis sound, and their best-known releases include the albums Mystic Stylez, When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 and Most Known Unknown, as well as “Stay Fly” and “Poppin’ My Collar.” The group won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “It’s Hard out Here for a Pimp” from Hustle & Flow.
A 2019 reunion concert at Landers Center in Southaven brought DJ Paul and Juicy J back onstage with Gangsta Boo and Crunchy Black. In 2021, Three 6 Mafia faced Bone Thugs-n-Harmony in a Verzuz event at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
