Built around vocalists Danny Hutton, Cory Wells and Chuck Negron, the group became known for pop-rock arrangements of songs by writers including Randy Newman, Hoyt Axton and Laura Nyro. Its best-known recordings include “Joy to the World,” “Mama Told Me Not to Come,” “One,” “Black and White” and “Shambala.” The band recorded Captured Live at the Forum at the Los Angeles Forum in 1969, documenting its original seven-member lineup in an arena setting. The touring lineup presents the catalogue as a full rock band led by founding vocalist Danny Hutton.
