Tim O'Brien in Cincinnati

Tim O’Brien is an American bluegrass and folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, born in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1954. He became known as a founding member of Hot Rize and has built his solo work around vocals, mandolin, fiddle and guitar. His notable albums include The Crossing and Fiddler’s Green. Hot Rize performed repeatedly at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival during its long touring history. Tim O’Brien later gave duo concerts with his sister Mollie O’Brien and toured with Darrell Scott, his partner on the album Real Time. His solo and band shows draw on bluegrass, country, folk and Celtic material, and he has performed that repertoire at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
