Tord Gustavsen Trio in Erlangen

Tord Gustavsen Trio is a Norwegian jazz group led by pianist and composer Tord Gustavsen. The original lineup paired him with bassist Harald Johnsen and drummer Jarle Vespestad, establishing a spacious piano-trio sound on the ECM albums Changing Places, The Ground and Being There. Later recordings include The Other Side, Opening and Seeing. At NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, Tord Gustavsen performed alongside bassist Sigurd Hole and Jarle Vespestad in the intimate piano-bass-drums format heard on The Other Side. Steinar Raknes later took over the bass role for concerts centred on Opening and Seeing, bringing that repertoire to concert halls, churches and jazz festivals. The trio has appeared at North Sea Jazz Festival and the London Jazz Festival.
