The band plays polished rock and pop informed by soul and jazz, and is best known for “Hold the Line,” “Rosanna” and “Africa,” the latter two from the album Toto IV. Toto performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1991, a concert later released as Live at Montreux 1991. The band marked its 25th anniversary with a 2003 concert at Amsterdam’s Heineken Music Hall, issued as 25th Anniversary: Live in Amsterdam, then played arenas and theatres on the 40 Trips Around the Sun tour launched in 2018. Toto has returned repeatedly to Japan and has also toured Germany and Italy across several decades.
