Artists
Tublatanka is a Slovak hard-rock band formed in Bratislava in 1982 by singer-guitarist Martin Ďurinda, bassist Pavol Horváth and drummer Juraj Černý. The group’s guitar-driven rock and heavy-metal sound is heard on albums such as Tublatanka and Skúsime to cez vesmír. Its best-known songs include “Dnes,” “Pravda víťazí” and “Láska, drž ma nad hladinou.” In 1994, Tublatanka represented Slovakia at the Eurovision Song Contest, performing “Nekonečná pieseň” at the Point Theatre in Dublin. The band subsequently sustained a full-band concert career in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, playing theatres, arenas and rock festivals; later tours have included dates in Prague and Ostrava.
Alphaville is a German synth-pop band formed in Münster in 1982 by Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd and Frank Mertens. The group is best known for the songs “Forever Young,” “Big in Japan” and “Sounds Like a Melody,” all released on the debut album Forever Young. Alphaville gave its first live concert in Beirut in 1993, years after its early records had established the band’s audience. The band marked its 25th anniversary in 2009 with a concert at Prague’s Žofín Palace.
