Tune-Yards is an American experimental pop project led by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Merrill Garbus, joined by longtime collaborator Nate Brenner. The project is known for the albums BiRd-BrAiNs, w h o k i l l and Nikki Nack, and for songs including “Bizness,” “Gangsta” and “Water Fountain.” In 2011, Tune-Yards performed a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music. In 2014, the project joined Arcade Fire for dates on the Reflektor Tour, extending an already established run of headline club and theatre shows. Garbus builds the live arrangements from voice, percussion, ukulele and loops; Brenner plays bass, while touring musicians add drums and vocals. The group has performed at Coachella in California and at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound.
