TV Priest are a British post-punk band formed in London in 2019 by longtime friends Charlie Drinkwater, Alex Sprogis, Nic Bueth and Ed Kelland. Drinkwater’s spoken-sung vocals and the group’s angular guitar rock shaped the albums Uppers and My Other People, as well as songs including “Press Gang” and “One Easy Thing.” In 2020, pandemic restrictions interrupted the band’s early run of London performances and prevented a conventional tour around Uppers. Once touring resumed, their club sets drew on both albums, and TV Priest performed at SXSW in Austin.
