Ugly Duckling in Berlin

Ugly Duckling is an American hip-hop trio formed in Long Beach, California, in 1993. Known for sample-based production, playful rhymes and a sound rooted in early hip-hop, the group established its style on albums including Journey to Anywhere and Taste the Secret, and on tracks such as “A Little Samba.” Ugly Duckling performed at Glastonbury Festival and the Reading and Leeds Festivals while touring beyond the United States. Their British dates have also included club shows at London’s Jazz Cafe. The live lineup pairs two MCs with a DJ: Andy Cooper and Dizzy Dustin trade verses while Young Einstein works the turntables. Young Einstein’s oversized gold chain, connected to the track “Eye on the Gold Chain,” became a recurring part of the show.
