Ulla Meinecke is a German singer-songwriter, born in Usingen in 1953, whose work centres on German-language pop and sharply observed lyrics. Udo Lindenberg produced her debut album, Von toten Tigern und nassen Katzen, and her best-known songs include “Die Tänzerin,” “Feuer unterm Eis” and “Nie wieder.” The album Wenn schon nicht für immer, dann wenigstens für ewig became a central part of her catalogue. In the long-running Songs & Geschichten program, Ulla Meinecke has toured German theatres and cultural venues with a mixture of songs and spoken stories. These concerts use a compact ensemble built around her voice, supported by multi-instrumentalist Ingo York and pianist Reinmar Henschke.
